Expensive parts can often be chipped or damaged by simple objects such as small stones on the road or twigs hanging out from the roadside. The protection strip is a sheet of thick clear vinyl and has to be cut by hand to shape for badges, fog lights and leading edges of gloss trim, for trims it is not used for the whole area, just leading edges (unless you want to cover the whole area then multiple sheets are required) and small items such as the bonnet hood badge background and top letter or grill badge, grill edges and fins, bumper fins and fogs.
Multiple sheets may be required.
Requires cutting, this is not pre cut! Therefor this item is recommended to be installed at a Volkswagen/Audi Dealership or a suitably trained or competent fitter/installer.
If untrained but restoring or maintaining your own vehicle, you can cut strips for fins and trace badges (use tracing paper etc) and cover your badges or wing mirror, good tools and a good level of skill are of course required.
The protection foil sheet is a Genuine Volkswagen Audi OEM Part and is used across many vehicles and fitted in the workshop! Though only when specially requested! It does not come as standard as far as we can see, only an optional upgrade or accessory to be fitted after purchase and as we know here at VWPI very often these special parts are unseen by many but in hindsight are a critical needed part and one we are pleased to stock in our inventory, for you, for your vehicle.
This part is not for the faint hearted, it is only for those wishing to retain things exactly as they should be, it is not cheap, some may say it is mega expensive for what it is. But and the big but is it will save you money* long term by protecting your vehicle and keeping the bits on the front end as nice as they should be! It will help to protect from scratches and chips!
* Obviously we can’t guarantee it’ll prevent damage, it will certainly help prevent most small scratches and small chips by way of its design, the high quality material selected acts as a soft cushion and helps to deflect small impacting objects. 1 Sheet for example will cover most wing mirror (main leading area) and help prevent the wing mirror from being scratched by small bush twigs, but it won’t stop a branch :) A shingle stone that may previously have cracked a flog lens, may now be deflected. The aim is simply prevention is better than the cure of a new part.
